Telstra used to replace these as a matter of course every 7-8 years ie it is a known issue with HFC.

nbn equipment for HFC. I've been on NBN HFC since January and have had this issue since 30 mins after installation. That way if they see lots of faults they will possibly decide to scrap the whole system, because even if this is fixed the corrosion will happen again into the future. My NBN is dropping out about every min.
